Below are the beginning steps for application to the Riverdale Housing Co-op (RHC)
1. You must attend a NACHA, Northern Alberta Cooperative Housing Association Orientation. These Orientations are held monthly and you can find out where they are and at what time by contacting NACHA directly at 482-6128 or at www.nacha.ca. There is a nominal fee to attend for which you will be given a receipt. All parties interested in residing in the RHC must attend this Orientation.
2. Next you must send in, either thru email or to the address listed below, a LETTER OF INTEREST. All letters of interest must be in writing, stating name, address and telephone number(s) and an email address if you have one. Your letter of interest should contain a photocopy of your receipt from attending your NACHA Orientation. Your name will then be placed on our “Ready for Orientation File” and you will be contacted by a member of the Riverdale Housing Co-op (RHC) to attend a RHC Orientation.
3. THE RHC ORIENTATION is held in one of our RHC homes in Riverdale. At this time the home can be viewed and the organization of the Cooperative is explained by representatives of our Committees and our Board and is hosted by two members of our Membership Committee. At the end of the Orientation you will be given a package of information about the RHC and an application form. All parties interested in residing in the RHC must attend this Orientation.
4. After you have attended a RHC Orientation you will then need to fill out our APPLICATION FORM, PIPA CONSENT FORM AND INCLUDE ALL APPLICABLE FEES. This is detailed on the back of the application form you will have received at the RHC Orientation. Return the form and the fees to the RHC at the address listed below.
5. After your application has been received you will be phoned for an INTERVIEW conducted by two members of the Membership committee. You will be asked for permission to do a credit check and follow up on your references. The interview consists of a set of questions asked of all applicants and provides an opportunity for you to ask questions or raise issues of concern to you.
6. At the end of this process IF your application is approved, you (and any other members of your household), are added to the Official RHC WAITING LIST. Your name will be filed in one of two categories - needing subsidy or not needing subsidy.
7. It is up to you to keep the RHC informed of any CHANGE OF ADDRESS E-Mail address or telephone number in writing. If you have been placed on the RHC Waitlist. Failure to do so could mean loss of an offer of a unit.
